What an exciting time it was this year at the "2009 Providence Open/ Little New England Competition"
In all my years of
skating and hundreds of competitions, it's always still a thrill for
me to see our skaters compete. When I watch these skaters take
the ice it makes my heart skip a beat. Watching them with
their grace, artistic ability and pure championship attitudes and how
they represent the Skating Club of Southern New England with
such pride.
Each year Providence Open has the
final elimination rounds for " Little New England and I am proud to say
all of our SC of SNE skaters whom competed made it into the
finals.
* Anna Comperchio * Lily
Green * Amanda Jones* Catherine Rafuse * Emily Tuite *
I was gleaming from pride at
these fabulous skaters.
Very rare do all skaters from the
same club make it into the finals but all our skaters did just
that.
And then when the moment
arrived to see if someone from the Skating Club of Southern New
England would be bringing home the covenant title you could feel the
excitement.
I am proud to say we have the Gold
Cup " Little New England Champ" Lily Green!!!!!
Lily skated so beautifully and
with such a wonderful program. She blew the judges
away.
But even better was that all our
wonderful skaters took home the pride of knowing they competed in the
finals. and showed true championship skating.
We had a couple of skaters whom had
never skated at Providence Open before and they showed us how much they
have grown and achieved in their skating.
I am also very proud of the coach
for all these wonderful skaters - Coach Ashley Roque.
She was so proud and thrilled at how
amazing her skaters all did. Each time one of them took the ice you
could see Coach Ashley gleam with glory and tears in her eyes for their
wonderful performances. Coach Ashley was walking on air for
days after the competition with knowing all her skaters gave their
100% best.
As a member of the Skating Club of
Southern New England and Board member for many years, I do not think I
will ever forget tearing up when one skater blew my heart away with her
graceful and amazing performance.
This is what skating is all
about. Working hard, learning to achieve and giving it all at
competitions. Plus having a great sportsmanship attitude
as all these skaters do!
Congratulations to all of
these fabulous skaters & happy skating to all.
